As much as it pains me to admit it, I’m getting older. The 9-mile hike I did the day before to the summit of Snezka left me tired and sore. Luckily, with complete autonomy over my schedule, I could take the day off. And, so I did.
As a sociologist of religion, I do try to stay abreast of what is happening in my field. One way I do that is by attending religious services a couple of times a year. I particularly enjoy doing this in different countries. With nothing else on my schedule for the day, I slipped out early and attended an 8:00 am mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows, which was just a two-minute walk from our place. The entire service was in Czech, so I didn’t understand really any of it. I took a lot of notes, but those are for my work.
Otherwise, I spent the day catching up on email and letting my body recover.
In the evening, I met up with Debi and the workshop attendees and enjoyed a nice meal at the Prague Municipal House (Obecní dům). I got to chat with some of the other workshop attendees (one from Indiana, the other from Denmark) for a couple of hours.
