floaties in the tub
Toren wanted his floatie in the tub one night, so I helped him put it on. The result is kind of humorous:

Toren’s new trike
Craigslist is awesome! I found this trike with a push bar on Craigslist for $15.00. It’s used and a bit beat up, but it works fine. We had it for all of a week before Toren figured out how to pedal. It’s probably not that unusual for a kid his age, but a lot of…

Toren’s Jedi Powers
After picking Toren up one day at daycare he wanted to go explore the hospital where his daycare is located. As we walked around he found an automatic door that opened when you approached it. This was the first time that Toren had triggered such a door by himself. He was fascinated by it. I…

“dry” and “video game”
Why is it that kids don’t tell the truth? In the video clip below I asked Toren if he was poopy and he responds by saying that he’s “dry.” He then asks for my phone so he can play a video game:

What words do you teach your kids?
While we’re not always technical in the words we use with Toren (e.g., “Are you poopy?”), we did choose to use one technically accurate term – vulva. Vulva, for those who don’t know, is the technical word for the external female genitalia from the mons pubis to the labia and anus. Most people refer to…

Cars? Cars where are you?
I’m not exactly sure what, cognitively, would be developing to lead Toren to do this, but it was quite funny. Toren has obviously observed Debi and I calling out for each other and calling out for him. We often call out for Toren, especially now that he hides to defecate and he likes playing hide-and-seek.…

pumpkin shoes
In preparation for Halloween this year we pulled out Toren’s pumpkin costume from last year. He was not at all interested in putting the pumpkin part on, but totally dug the shoes:
