Toren on the nets at Busch Gardens
There’s something about my little boy climbing on these nets that makes me want to film him: Maybe it’s just that he looks so small compared to the nets, but he’s so much bigger than he used to be.

still working on throwing
Since Toren is too young to feed the kangaroos, the zoo gives him free fish food to throw to the koi and ducks in a nearby pond. Here he is doing his best to throw it to the ducks and fish: He won’t be headed to the major leagues any time soon…

Toren’s on email…
Okay, Toren isn’t really able to send email yet (though we still have his email account we set up when he was born). But he also has no conception of writing a letter. He thinks any time you write something down that could be construed as words, it’s actually an email. So, here he is…

hanging at the beach
I took Toren out to the beach one Sunday morning to watch a kite flying event. The kites weren’t all that interested, so we went for a bike ride then went and played on the beach for a couple hours. Here he is raking the sand in preparation for our massive sand castle construction project:

Toren’s growing – everywhere
Debi was out of town for a few days and just got back home. Being away from Toren for even a few days right now means he’s learned new words by the time you see him again, so it does seem like he changes quickly. Once home, Debi asked Toren, “Have you grown since I…

what not to say about your mom
Toren was drawing on some scrap paper the other day and was making very large circles. When he finished, he turned around to Debi and I who were nearby but busy with other things and said in a very loud voice, “This is mom, with her big, huge tummy.” I laughed out loud for several…

the cake incident
We asked Toren what he would want if he learned to use the toilet and stopped using diapers. His response, “To jump in a cake.” While we’re not fans of wasting food, we were perfectly willing to waste a cake if it meant no more diapers. During our trip to Utah, Toren’s grandmother made a…
